Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • We accept around 40-45 students every year and they will form 1 class. We have a main teacher who will be conducting lessons at the front of the classroom and around 3-4 roving learning facilitators who can individually tutor students should they need 1-1 attention.

  • Unfortunately, not all applicants are accepted into the programme. We have a limited number of 40-45 seats for this programme. We are only able to accept youths who show full motivation to complete the programme and sit for their N-levels.

  • Yes, you can still apply for Project Starfish. If you are accepted, you must be formally withdrawn from school by February. This will ensure that you can register for N-levels as a private candidate by March.

  • Many of our students require an acceptance letter from our programme to be formally withdrawn from their school. If you are accepted into Project Starfish, you will need to attend the first 2 lessons to show proof of your commitment. Once you do, you may request an acceptance letter from the teachers.

  • Project Starfish is NOT a school. We’re a ground up imitative and are not registered as a learning institution. You will not be able to defer from NS by enrolling in our programme. You will not be eligible for student concessions and will not be able to use your Edusave to pay for the SEAB N-level examination fees.

  • No, you cannot. Project Starfish is not a registered learning institution.

  • There are no school fees. Students will only have to pay for their N-level examination fees of ~$400 when they are part of this programme. This $400 will be paid to SEAB during the N-level registration period (March) and it will be paid through the exam registration portal.

  • Assessment books for N(T) English, Math and Science will be provided at free of charge by the programme. However, you do need to buy your own calculator and mathematical set.

  • There is no penalty. However, we do appreciate it if we are formally informed of this decision!

  • If you are looking to take 1 or 2 subjects at a O or N(A)-level, you may do so. You will not receive formal lessons for this. All our lessons are conducted for N(T)-level papers. If you are looking to fully sit as an O-level or N(A)-level candidate, this programme is not suitable for you.

  • After every term, we send out progress reports to students, their social workers and parents. For more individual insight on how the youth is performing in class, please request from us directly at hello_starfish@outlook.com
